HOLYWELL TOWN have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Shaun Pearson ahead of the new season.

Pearson (pictured below) becomes manager John Haseldin's latest signing, following striker Sam Jones’ recent return to the squad.

The 26-year-old Llandudno-born stopper started his playing career with Llangefni before joining Barrow, with his older brother Mike, in 2010.

He made 29 appearances for the Bluebirds in his final season before being released by mutual consent to spend a season in Australia.

He started last season at Colwyn Bay, a club where he has had two previous spells, making 16 appearances this season, before signing for Airbus in January.

Haseldin said: “I'm delighted to have signed Shaun, he's someone we have been in touch with for a while now.

“He's still young for a keeper but brings with him loads of experience and a commanding presence.

“It’s no secret we had problems in that department last season, using six different goalkeepers over the season is a statistic that is unheard of really.

“So we felt as a priority that we needed to bring in a new number one for the season.

“He's still young for a keeper but brings with him loads of experience and a commanding presence.

“He's a massive signing for the club and I'm sure the supporters will get behind him like they have done with our keepers in the past."

Pearson said: "I'm excited to get going and to meet all the lads, I'm really looking forward to playing for the club and hopefully having a successful season.

“I would like to thank the manager John Haseldin and Chris Boulton for giving me the chance and for their words about the club which made it easier to sign on the dotted line.”
