A Wrexham woman flew the flag for Wales at an international beauty contest.

Lauren Parkinson, 22, of Chirk, was among a host of competitors from across the globe at the Miss Galaxy pageant in Orlando, Florida.

Lauren, who was crowned Miss Galaxy Wales in March, finished fourth runner up in the global competition.

A spokesman for Pageant Girl, which organises the UK Miss Galaxy contests, said: “Lauren took part in lots of exciting activities, such as photo-shoots, interviews and parties before stepping onto the international stage where she competed against
women from all over the world.

“As well as placing so highly, Lauren shone on stage and won the ‘Best in Swimwear’ award!

“Lauren had such an incredible week in Orlando and was honoured to represent Wales on the international stage.

“She will now continue with her charity work and appearances in the UK as Miss Galaxy Wales.”
